We are still plugging away at the office space in the basement (painting baseboards really is a horrible task), but I thought I'd take a break from the office to show you my favourite room in our house - Fin's room. I think it's actually funny that it's my favourite room, since I spend quite a bit of time in there being completely frustrated with my daughter and willing her to go to sleep. Our kid struggles with sleep - a lot! She often goes to sleep just fine and then wakes up half an hour later and has such a hard time getting back to sleep. She wants to drift off into dreamland but her body seems to fight her and it's often a very frustrating time for all involved. I sit in the rocking chair and rock her quietly while her eyes flutter closed and then pop back open, over, and over, and over again. Although we have frustrating times in the room, it's also the room where we get the best cuddles (in the morning for about 2.6 seconds) and the hugest smiles (when we go get her after naps). It's the room we get some Mom and Fin time to just sit and read books or talk about the day (mostly I talk while she plays with my necklace, earrings, hair, buttons etc). I am so happy with the choices we made in this room and can't wait for our little girl to grow up in it.

Oh my goodness, adorable. And great that you're surrounded by such charm and loveliness while you deal with the sleep issues. I know how rough those can be. Hope they've improved since you posted this :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. Yes, the sleep has improved considerably (although as I type this she's up there jumping in her crib when she should be sleeping!).
DeleteKelly,

Thank you! I love the rocking chairs too...and for how old the big one is, it has sure held up to a lot of rocking over the past year! Have a great day.
