Seriously, I am 30? How the heck did I get here? Sometimes I feel really, really old (hello grey hair), and other times I can't believe that I am a wife and a mother as it seems like just yesterday I was still in university living on Kraft Dinner and hot dogs. All in all though, 30 is feeling pretty darn good. 25 was way harder than 30 has been. At 25 I was still in limbo and didn't know where life was going to take me. At 30 now I feel pretty settled in life and am ready to take on new adventures as they come.
I had a great birthday weekend.
Mr. Swell surprised me on Friday night with a cooking class at a local restaurant. Sorry - no photos, I was too busy cooking and eating!
Saturday morning we got up bright and early to cheer Mr. Swell on as he competed in the Half Moon Resort Triathlon.
Fin couldn't handle all of the excitement and cheering.
Then, the morning of my birthday I was lucky enough to get some great gifts from my little family.
I had been drooling over this bird house for quite a while and was very excited to finally have one of my own. It is so cute! I think it's too nice to hang outside....
Fin (with a little help) bought me this piano jewellery organizer. She's totally obsessed with my earrings, and wants to pull at them all the time. The incessant pulling means that when I walk in the door from work at the end of the day, the earrings come off and usually get plunked wherever I am at the time. There are earrings all over the house. I guess this is a hint?
Then we went over to my Mom's house for brunch and I was totally surprised with a new light fixture for our front porch. I have been waiting and waiting for it to go on sale at Home Depot and it just wasn't happening. I'm very glad it's mine now.
All in all, it was a great weekend. We didn't do any work on the house (except for a trip to buy tile that turned into a bit of a gong show - I'll tell you all about it another post), which was very relaxing.
I was determined to try and get a family photo to commemorate the day. If you can believe it, this is the best of the bunch. Getting 3 people to all smile at the same time is harder than it may seem!
