Just a quick Sunday post today because I HAD to share these donuts with you.
Am I the last person on earth to discover these semi-home made donuts? They rocked my world....seriously. I am not even a donut person, I will usually pick a good soft cookie over a donut, but these guys will beat out cookies any day.
Thursday was Mr. Swell's birthday (which also happened to be the day Edmonton received the most snowfall in one day in over 40 years!) and instead of making him a cake this year we broke tradition and made donuts. (Last year I made him Chocoflan, which is still one seriously delicious cake if you are in need of a new cake recipe).
On top of being delicious, they could not be easier. Take a can of pre-made biscuits (we used Pillsbury Country Style). Cut a hole in the middle of each biscuit (a tall shot glass works well). Then fry them in vegetable oil that has been heated to 350 degrees until they are gold brown on each side. When they are still nice and hot, shake them up in a bag filled with cinnamon and sugar. Oh, and don't forget to fry the holes too!
They remind me of the little mini donuts at the fair.
This might just become a birthday tradition in our house!
Hope you are having a great Sunday! I'll be back on Tuesday to show you how I re-did a vanity chair and fixed up our milk paint vanity.
