  1. It's so interesting to see a house all renovated and nice, but empty. Love that you made them black and white.

    1. Thanks Katja! I always think it's interesting to see that as much as we look for the 'perfect' home, it's the people and their things that really make it special.

  3. Hey Kel, awesome post, loved it! I agree, it is the people and their things that make a home special! I did get a little sad though, not sure why, maybe because it's knowing that you created memories there, that sure does tug at the heart strings a bit! I know it was the same when we left our home, yes you are on to bigger and better and new memories, but I think it's important to pay tribute to where you've come from, beautifully done!

    1. Thanks so much Laurie! Oh, don't get me wrong...I was a little sad. It's always hard to move on and give up the comfortable and familiar. And your right, paying tribute is important - we wouldn't be where we are today if we weren't there first.

  4. I love that the photos are black and white too. Puts everything more into the distance!

    1. Thanks Julia. Yes, it just seemed appropriate for them to be in b/w so that the colours didn't distract.

  5. Kelly, can I ask if you felt a little bit emotional leaving the house? We'll be moving to a new one ourself in three weeks and I'm a mess of emotions at the moment: excited about the new home and very sad of leaving this one. :0 (

    1. Hi Gaby,
Yes, it was definitely a little emotional. We had a lot of milestones in that house, so it's always hard to leave. you have to have faith that you are moving on to bigger and better though, and although it takes a while to adjust, it's totally worth it in the end.
Best of luck with your move!

  6. Hysterical that your last box is a microwave!! I'm so happy that you were able to take so many "exit" photographs. It will be so nice to have for years to come!

  7. This post reminds me a bit of the 'Goodnight Moon' book. Goodbye house, goodbye front room, goodbye kitchen, goodbye bedroom.... Here's to a fresh new beginning :)

  10. Bye lovely house - hello new adventures!

We're in the process of listing/gearing-up-for-a-potential-move, and I have to say that I'm a bit gun-shy. Will I handle it with grace? Or will I be a sobbing mess?

Love that these are all black-and-white pics! :)

Can't wait to see more pics of the new place!

  11. Houses are SO sentimental. We live our lives and create so many memories within those walls. It's always hard to leave one place. But the excitement of a new place is so much fun. It's just a new chapter. Good thing you have lots of pictures to document the old chapters. Excited to see the new place!

  12. Awwww.... this makes me a little sad. Something about an empty house has a little bittersweet feeling. IT's happy. And it's a little sad.

  13. So beautiful. It looks ready for it's new owners. What a wonderful way to commemorate your lives there.
