One Stripe, Two Stripe....and a Pumpkin Parade

Aside from hitting up Ikea (again!...in the rain, with what felt like a million other families), I also became friends once again with my Frog Tape and paint roller last weekend.

After I finished painting my Ikea Vittsjo desk and hanging the bison head, I felt the space just needed something more.  It was ok, but I felt like it wasn't grounded - it was all too airy.

So, out came the tape and the paint.

Better, right?  The paint is some that I had left over from painting our front door in our old house. The colour is Martha Stewart's Wrought Iron.

The other new stripe in our house is in the main bathroom.  I showed you the progress I'd made in the main bathroom last week, but ever since I painted the whole bathroom all one colour (BM Baby Fawn), the ceiling was just crying for something to make it special.  Most of our ceilings in this house are stippled, so I was excited to have a flat ceiling that I could actually paint.

Ignore the gaping ceiling fan hole, ok? There is something seriously wrong with the fan and when you turn it on it sounds like a 747 - serious...it's crazy loud.  We need to change the whole fan out, which means going into the attic, and I haven't convinced Mr. Swell that is a good idea quite yet.

The stripe goes from the top of the door, across the ceiling and down to the shower.  It was a little challenging to get the line straight on the ceiling and took two of us to ensure the tape didn't get stuck in my hair, but after a bit of fanangling and sweating we were able to get this stripe done in a matter of hours (tape and 2 coats of paint).

Please take a moment to admire the awesome-ness of the shower...faux almond marble in all its glory.

The paint is Rustoleum Painter's Touch in high gloss black.  It's the same stuff you can buy as spray paint, but in a can instead.  Mr. Swell wasn't really keen on the idea at first (especially after he had to hold his hands above his head getting the tape straight for a little too long...), but now he thinks it's great. What do you think?

If you look closely....you can see a quick glimpse of the progress we have made on the doors.  We ran out of paint this weekend, so there are still 2 doors left to go. Getting there...just slowly.

And lastly today, I am excited to announce that I am going to be participating with a great group of ladies in a Pumpkin Parade.

Pumpkin Parade. Join us for a link party October 11. Show us your pumpkin projects. #halloween #pumpkin

We will each be sharing our pumpkin projects throughout next week, and then we can all come back on Friday, October 11th for a great big link party.  We'd love to have you participate, so if you have a pumpkin project planned, make sure to get it ready to go for the link party on the 11th.
